Safety Information
Safety Instructions for Ballast Belts
Rules for Safe Use
1. Proper Fitting and Adjustment
-Make sure the ballast belt is properly adjusted to your boat and correctly worn.
-All buckles and adjustment elements must be securely fastened and adjusted to prevent the belt from detaching from the boat during use.
-The load should be distributed evenly to ensure stability and comfort during use.
2. Purpose
-The ballast belt is intended solely for use during ballasting in sailing activities and is tailored to specific classes such as Optimist, ILCA, Laser, etc.
-Do not use the belt for purposes it was not designed for, such as climbing, safety harness, or lifting and carrying objects.
-Avoid making any independent modifications or repairs to the belt – any changes may affect its safety and durability.
3. Regular Inspection Before Use
Perform a technical inspection of the belt before each use, paying attention to:
-Material: Check for any abrasions, cracks, or other damages to the belt material.
-Buckles and Fasteners: Ensure they are free from cracks, deformations, and corrosion.
-Stitching: Make sure the stitches are not weakened or torn.
4. Cleaning and Maintenance
-After each use, rinse the ballast belt with clean water to remove salt, sand, and other impurities.
-Avoid using detergents or chemicals that could weaken the material.
-Store the belt in a dry, ventilated place, away from direct sunlight, moisture, and heat sources.
5. Emergency Situations
-In case of belt damage, do not use it until it has been professionally repaired or replaced.
-If the ballast belt shows signs of wear or damage, contact the manufacturer or authorized service for an assessment of its technical condition.
Final Remarks
Proper use of the ballast belt in accordance with these instructions will ensure safety and long product life. If you have any doubts or additional questions, please contact the manufacturer or distributor.
